How Repfie uses each device permission on iOS and Android · Last updated: April 27, 2026
Repfie is a social commerce platform that combines a verified-identity feed, a creator-led marketplace, AI photo enhancement (RepGlow), AI portrait generation, and direct chat (RepChat) with creators. Some of these features require access to your device. The list below explains exactly which permissions Repfie requests, why they exist, and what happens if you decline.
We follow a least-privilege principle: Repfie never requests a permission unless the user actively engages a feature that requires it, and every permission can be revoked at any time from your device settings. Declining a permission only disables the specific feature it powers — it does not block access to the rest of the app.
When we ask: when you tap the camera button to capture a selfie or product photo, when you start face liveness verification, or when you record a short video for a post or AI model training.
What we do with it:
If you decline: you can still browse the feed, shop, message creators, and view content. You will not be able to verify your identity, post original photos, train an AI model, or use RepGlow / RepCloset.
When we ask: when you tap the gallery icon to attach an existing photo to a post, product listing, profile picture, AI training set, or RepChat message.
What we do with it:
If you decline: you can still capture new photos via the camera, but you cannot import existing photos from your gallery.
When we ask: when you tap "Save" on a RepGlow-enhanced photo, an AI portrait, or a downloaded receipt.
If you decline: the photo stays in the app. You can still share it directly to other apps via the system share sheet.
When we ask: when you record a voice note in RepChat, record audio for a video post, or train a voice AI model on your own voice.
What we do with it: capture audio only while you hold the record button. Audio is uploaded only when you press send or save.
If you decline: all video recording continues to work without sound, and text chat is unaffected. You will not be able to send voice notes or train a voice model.
When we ask: only when you tap "Use my location" on the marketplace to find nearby food, accommodation, or services, or when you tag a post with a location.
What we do with it: use the location only at the moment of the request to filter listings or attach a location tag. Repfie does not request "Always Allow" / background location and does not sell or share location data.
If you decline: you can manually enter a city or zip code. All other features work normally.
When we ask: after onboarding, when you opt in to receive alerts.
What we send: new direct messages, RepChat replies, order status updates, AI model completion, campaign invitations, and price drops on items you have wishlisted. Each category can be toggled independently inside the app under Settings → Notifications.
If you decline: the app still works; you can refresh manually or check the in-app notification inbox.
If you tap "Find friends from contacts", Repfie hashes phone numbers locally before sending them to our matching service so we can show you which contacts already use Repfie. Raw contact data is never stored on our servers. You can decline; the rest of the app continues to work.
Repfie does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. We do not request the IDFA for advertising purposes. The only first-party analytics we collect (crash logs, anonymous usage events) are limited to the Repfie app itself and are described in our Privacy Policy.
When we ask: when you turn on biometric login or biometric protection for your wallet.
What we do: the operating system performs biometric matching locally; Repfie only receives a yes/no result. We never see or store fingerprints or Face ID templates.
Important: the platform-level Face ID / Touch ID is completely separate from Repfie's own face liveness verification (which uses the camera and is described in section 1).
Repfie does not use Always-On Location, Background Audio, VOIP background, HealthKit, HomeKit, Bluetooth scanning for advertising purposes, or any background data collection. Background work is limited to download finishing, push receipt, and the standard system processes Apple and Google document.
iOS: Settings → Repfie → toggle each permission. You can also tap App Privacy Report to see exactly when each permission was used.
Android: Settings → Apps → Repfie → Permissions. Android 12+ also lets you set permissions to "Ask every time" from the same screen.
For any question about how a specific permission is used, email [email protected] or contact the support team at [email protected].
Our promise.
Every permission you grant Repfie is tied to a feature you can see, name, and turn off. We treat the camera, microphone, and gallery as borrowed tools — not as a data pipeline.
